Carter is still sharp. He was never a great president, mind you -- he had no idea how to be effective in Washington and his greatest success was not muddying the waters too much when Sadat and Begin, motivated by self-interest, signed their peace accord.

But Carter has lived a life of decency, and that along with great genes helps one age gracefully.
